Play Therapy -Bratton et al. (2005): “The Efficacy of Play Therapy with Children”

Drisko et al.’s systematic review supports play therapy as an effective, evidence-based treatment for a range of childhood concerns, including trauma, anxiety, aggression, and ADHD. The strongest outcomes were seen in trauma-related symptoms. While play therapy is developmentally appropriate and widely adaptable, the review highlighted limitations such as small sample sizes, inconsistent treatment duration, and a lack of follow-up data. Overall, play therapy is validated as a valuable intervention, though continued high-quality research is needed to strengthen and refine its evidence base.
